Wood Farm Brewery Opening
Friday 11th March 2011

A small party of officers and members were invited to attend the official opening of the Wood Farm Brewery, situated on what is generally known as the Cloudesley Bush, although the official name is Coalpit Lane, Monks Kirby (map), at the site of what used to be the Rugby Brewery.

There have been great changes recently with a new, Visitor Centre and Brewery Tap being built. Wood Farm Brewery was formed in 2010 by Kevin Featherstone (Rugby Brewery's brewer), Phil and Sue Dewes with the aim of offering a fresh approach to locally brewed ales. Kevin will continue to brew the ales as well as being responsible for the brewery tours.

The opening ceremony, hosted by Frank Wilson, was fittingly performed by Dean Richards, the England & Lions Rugby star, who entertained the guests with a question & answer session before unveiling a plaque to commemorate the event.
There was a full range of Wood Farm ales available, plus London Pride, all in excellent form, as you would expect.
The Visitor Centre and Brewery Tap will now be open daily from 12 noon offering a selection of ales, home made meals & Brewery Tours (by appointment).
