Mystery Survey Trip

Tuesday 15th February

"What better way to spend a wet and decidedly dank February evening than to get picked up from your local pub by bus to visit what turned out to be four other pubs on a mystery tour.
The first port of call was THE CROWN INN at Appleby Magna where we were greeted by Marstons, Banks's and Jennings.
After sampling some we were back on our bus on the way to our next port of call, which turned out to beTHE ODD HOUSE at Snarestone. All were impressed with this pub and many said they would return to try the food. I had not been there since our last visit and it was good to see they still had a CHURCH END brew available. Off to Newton Burgoland for our final stop of the evening, and not one pub but two!! The first was the SPADE TREE and our first visit since it was aquired by Nigel and Babara Davies last month BASS, WYCHWOOD HOBGOLIN and MARSTON'S EPA were available here. Then to finish off we walked across the road to THE BELPER ARMS where we were greeted by  LONDON PRIDE, BLACK SHEEP BITTER, ABBOT ALE, St. AUSTELL TRIBUTE and PEDIGREE to try. To finish off we ate through the cobs provided and had some of the best chips I have ever tasted.
With full stomachs we were delivered back home where thankfully I was awoken to get off the bus.
Thanks to Robin for organising and Alan for driving the bus but most all a big thankyou to the landlords for their hospitality.

Cheers,
Chris Davies "
