George & Dragon Re-opens

The day Stoke Golding village has been keenly awaiting for several months has now arrived and the George & Dragon has re-opened in its new form as the first Church End Brewery pub. There was a keen group of locals and CAMRA members at the door for the low key opening at midday. I had made my way from Hinckley using the local bus number 86 which provides an hourly service during daytime and drops and picks up outside the door.

The pub looks very smart having been completely refurbished inside and out with a slightly changed layout, new plasterwork, paintwork etc. There were 6 Church End beers available, all in the first class condition we have come to expect from Church End. There were also two guest beers from Burton Bridge, a 4.4% lager from Freedom and a cider from Westons. All the beers are competitively priced between £2.70 & £2.90.

The pub is being managed by Katie Elliott.

Food will be available at lunchtimes

Opening hours as follows:
Monday – Closed (Except Bank Holidays)
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 12:00 – 15:00 & 18:00 – 23:00
Friday/Saturday 12:00 – 23:00
Sunday 12:00 – 22.30

All too soon it was time to catch the bus home, but we left looking forward to many more visits!
