Chandlers Arms Beer Festival
Minbus Trip -Thursday 7th July 2011
Shearsby always looks to me to be an ideal village; situated in a quiet spot off the main roads, surrounded by some of Leicestershire's best countryside and home to the Chandlers Arms.
Steve, the landlord, always has a selection of ales from various breweries, including LocAles. He must be doing something right, the Chandlers has been voted the Leicester CAMRA Country Pub of the Year for the last three consecutive years!
For the three day festival Steve had 18 beers from 12 breweries in Norfolk & Suffolk. They were all in fine form with ABVs from 3.3 to 5.8. Four of the beers were on handpump in the bar, the rest were served by gravity in a small marquee on the lawn.
It was a pleasant, warm evening until it rained, then it was a cool, wet evening for a while until the sun came out again!
Thanks to Steve & Karen for putting on a good festival. Special mention must go to Karen, the food was super; I had a Lamb Curry with Naan - just the job!
