Cherry
Tree Beer Festival, Catthorpe
June
2009
 Six
branch members (including the Chairman) set off down the A5 to Catthorpe and the
Summer Beer Festival at the
Cherry Tree.
Phil and Sue are well used to putting
on beer festivals at their pub, which showed as the quality of the beers at this
one was again of the highest quality.
The beers selected were mainly from the
South West region namely, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. In total there were some
18 beers and ciders ranging from 3.2% to 6.7 %.
Scatter Rock featured highly with 4
beers, including Dartmoor Blonde and Rock Steady Light both at 3.2%, Teign
Valley Tipple 4% and Devonian at 4.5%. All pale in colour but good tasting of
fruit and hops.
Teignworthy provided the some nice
bitters in the form of; Sea Dog 4.1% a bronze malty beer with a nice bitter
finish and Googly Ale at 4.6% a smooth mid amber bitter with Goldings hops and a
light malt.
An excellent time was had by all and we
look forward to the next time.
