A WINNING COMBINATION

Just before Xmas on 8th December 2007 4 members planned to visit Leicester for an evening out. After a little research to find a restaurant which offered something a little different and had real beer we stumbled across what appeared to be the ideal venue, Flores restaurant & bar.

As well as its own attributes, Flores location on King Street is perfect. A stone’s throw from "Out of the Vaults“ and a leisurely stroll away from The Criterion and Swan & Rushes. Enough said!

Aperitifs and after dinner drinks on this occasion taken at the Out of the Vaults since Thornbridge Jaipur 5.9% ABV was one of the many beers to choose from. That’s definitely given away the identity of one of the group!

Flores opened earlier in the year and is Leicester’s new world tapas bar specialising in of course excellent tapas and wait for it……a range of drinks including MICRO BREWERY BEERS.

Grainstore Brewery Ten Fifty      5.0 % ABV and
Holdens Golden Glow                 4.4 %  ABV during our visit.

We also tried Echt Kriekenbier from Brouwerij Verhaeghe and traditional Flemish cherry ale  6.8% ABV and Fruh Kolsch, a smooth, light, top – fermented beer (Cologne beer brand) 4.8% ABV

We pre booked the Xmas menu themed on the Christmas Carol “The Twelve Days of  Christmas“… my true love sent to me!

Both restaurant & bar are tastefully decorated and had a nice, relaxed ambiance. The staff were attentive, unobtrusive but efficient and most important very welcoming and friendly.

All of the food was excellent but two dishes really stood out namely the steamed salmon - absolutely fantastic - and slow poached egg has to be seen & tasted to be believed! Menus and prices can be viewed on Flores web site.

We had a magical evening and are sure we could hear sleigh bells ringing on our way home. We recommend you to treat yourselves to this WINNING COMBINATION in 2008.
