Visit to 24th Rugby CAMRA Beer Festival

Thursday 10th May 2007

A wet Thursday evening saw a smaller than usual contingent on the minibus heading for the Thornfield Indoor Bowls Club, Rugby.

Although it was a very large building we were not encouraged to use most of it, which was a shame because it was flat & green and would have made an ideal area for picnics, BBQs, cricket, football, etc. Despite being restricted to the bar & viewing area, it was an excellent venue.

The beer selection was also restricted. This time to 'Warwickshire & local beers' and beers from 'Ireland, Islands & Around the UK'. Not much choice there then!

The selection of beers available turned out to be excellent, the majority being within the 4 point something range. There were also 6 milds available which had been judged, before opening time, for the West Midlands Region 'Beer of the Year' Mild Category. At present the result is not known.

After a suitable period of tasting, we made our way back to minibus & home - it was still raining!

. . . .then just when you're off guard! Despite reduced numbers, some parts of the minibus were quite crowded!
