Wednesday 17th January 2007 - Mystery Pub Tour
A nearly full minibus set off to our first call, The Plough in Earl Shilton.
On offer was Pedigree and St. Austell Dartmoor at 3.9% which proved very
popular. During our visit we were entertained by a disco!
 The
next call was at the Elephant & Castle in Thurlaston, where we discovered that
Neil & Pat were away on 3 weeks holiday. However, the beer was in fine form and
we were able to choose from Deuchars IPA, Speckled Hen, Beacon & Tiger.
Neil has recently been presented with a Gold Level Beautiful Beer Award by
Everards. He is one of only six publicans to receive this award in the Everards
estate - our congratulations to him.
The
next call was another Everards house, the Red Lion in Huncote. A good selection
of well kept beers on offer here, as well as the usual Beacon & Tiger, there
were Smiles Heritage and, again, Speckled Hen.
Neil shows off the new minibus bodywork!
 Last
call of the evening was the Heathcote Arms at Croft where we tucked into some
welcome sandwiches while tasting Marston's Ashes Ale (very hard to swallow!!),
Tiger, Original and, yet again, Speckled Hen. The Heathcote is one of the pubs
taking part in Everards Fringe, a comedy festival, in February.
Our thanks to all four landlords for making us most welcome.
The next Pub Tour is on the evening of Thursday 22nd February.
