Visit to the 31st Loughborough Beer Festival - Friday 2nd
March 2007
Well
the annual pilgrimage to Loughborough was undertaken by six hardy fellows,
departing eventually by train, we made our way to the Polish club in
Loughborough. As we neared the festival the pace of certain members quickened.
As we entered we had a choice of a half pint or pint glass. The drinking
commenced.
The
festival had a Scottish feel to it with good selection beers from north of the
border. Local beers were also available with a couple from the Thornbridge (our
next trip). We met up with Danny, the landlord of the Hobgoblin in Loughborough
-
his information of local pubs was invaluable in guiding us as to where
we would visit after the festival. The traditional Samosas were available, and
complimented the beers well.
We then left the festival and made
our way to the Hobgoblin where
Danny made us all most welcome. I think it is fair to say that we are all now
honorary Hobgobliners as “T” shirts and playing cards were supplied along with
the beer.
We then moved on the Swan in the
Rushes where
yet more fine ale was consumed. A taxi and train somehow managed to get us back
to Hinckley where
a night cap in the Railway rounded the day off. A memorable day for many
reasons, the company, the beer and the potential for another Brewery trip on the
2nd June.
Thanks to everyone.
