Visit to the 11th CAMRA Burton & South Derbyshire Winter Ale Festival, Friday 26th January 2006.

A party of about 13 of us gathered in Burton-on-Trent's impressive Town Hall to try some of the 80 ales & ciders on offer.
Most of the party had travelled from Hinckley by train, arriving, conveniently, at opening time.

The festival was up to its usual high standard. The main hall was designated 'non smoking' and a separate 'smoking room' provided. This year there was an 'Irish Bar' featuring the real ales of Ireland's breweries.
Entertainment throughout the session was, as usual, provided by Martin Atterbury on the mighty Wurlitzer organ. Martin provided his usual selection of suitable tunes.
I felt the food was of better quality this year - excellent steak pie!

By about 4:00pm we felt in need of a little relaxation away from the worries of 'which one to try next', so we de-camped to the Devonshire Arms just down the road & then to the Coopers Tavern where we were made very welcome, as usual.
We managed to catch a train home at about 7:00pm.
