2011 Club of the Year Presentation

Thursday 20th April 2011

Ian, Carolyn & David

David Finn, Hinckley & Bosworth CAMRA Chairman presents Carolyn & Ian with the Club of the Year certificate

Ashby Road Sports Club (ARSC)

This also incorporated an impromptu award to Alan Cooke for winning the CAMRA "Most Improved Website of the Year" Award for our CAMRA website.

Hinckley and Bosworth Branch were pleased to make the COTY award to the ARSC in Hangman's Lane, Hinckley. For the second year running, ARSC has been successful in winning this award.

David Finn, Branch Chairman, started the presentation by thanking everyone for attending.  The attendance included some regular club members and a good contingent of H & B CAMRA members. David, before making the award to the ARSC, took the opportunity to celebrate the Branch's achievement in receiving a national award for the "most improved web-site". It was encouraging to note that last years winner of the award (South West London Branch) went on to win the "Best Website" award this year, so the omens are good. He went on to say that we owe a great deal to Alan Cooke as this was "national proof" that he is doing a fantastic job with our website.

The "trophy" for the award was presented to Alan, who received the award and thanked all those involved.

Back to the ASRC award and an acknowledgement was made to those H & B CAMRA members who had voted for the ARSC as the best club this year in our region. Winning this award automatically takes the club through as a contender for the East Midlands Club of the Year Award. The ARSC is no stranger to this award having won it in 2007 and 2008 before going onto represent the region in the Super Region Finals. This says a lot for the success of the ARSC and pays a high compliment to Carolyn and Ian on running the club with a good clientele and a good selection of guest ales including LocAles. It is also really good to see Ian on the way back to better health.

Carolyn and Ian have been running this club for over 8 years, providing sports facilities for locals and making it a place where people really want to come and be a part of.

David made the presentation to Carolyn for the Club of the Year and Carolyn responded by saying that it was an honour to receive the award and said thanks very much to all those who had made this possible and invited all those present to join in a celebration chilli supper.
