The Dog & Hedgehog springs
into life as it reopens its doors on
It was unthinkable to local residents that the building could be
ignored and left to deteriorate but that seemed to be the case. The villagers
fought hard for three years to try and keep its doors open.
The new owners, Bill Reinking and Robert Marko, will resume
business as before. Bill said:
“what attracted me to The Dog were the beautiful views and
seeing such a historic building and gardens being neglected. I immediately
wanted to save it and give it some “TLC” and bring it back to the community.”
Both Bill and Robert have extensive experience in the restaurant

Having undergone a sympathetic
refurbishment by the owners themselves, this wonderful historical building retains the level of charm
and character befitting such an establishment. Local resident Graham Grimley
said:
“I was concerned that any future owners
would be sympathetic to the history of the building and the challenge of
dealing with a small and, at times, quirky community. I think I can speak
for most in saying that the way Bill and Robert have launched themselves into
local life bodes very well for the future of The Dog as a local pub and also as a most attractive venue for the
wider population, most of whom, have a special affinity to this lovely country
pub.
