LocAle Launch

Ian pulls the first pint
of LocAle

Friday 1st May 2009

The H&B LocAle Scheme was launched on the evening of Friday 1st May when a mini bus full of members & accompanied by Chairman David visited three LocAle pubs.

First call was the George & Dragon, Stoke Golding where Ian, a keen member of the LocAle Scheme, pulled the first pint of Rugby Brewing's Webb Ellis. Ian had a barrel of No.8 waiting in the cellar for when the Webb Ellis ran out. He was also offering Lancaster Black & Wells Bombardier, both in fine form despite their lengthy journeys to get here!

Keenly awaiting a pint of LocAle

Steve pulls a pint of Tunnel
Brewery Clockwork Orange
The second call of the evening was the King William IV in Market Bosworth

In addition to Tunnel Clockwork Orange, Steve was also offering Everard's Tiger, Marston's Bitter & Pedigree which, despite the missing 'pump crowners' do qualify as LocAles in the King William. Remember the beer must be brewed within a 20 radius of the pub to qualify as a LocAle.

The Chairman holds forth at the bar - not buying though!

Simon pulls a pint of Pedigree
The final call was the Rising Sun in Shackerstone, a free house run by Simon Clough.

Here in addition to his regular Pedigree (LocAle), Old Speckled Hen & Timothy Taylor Landlord was the popular Church End Goat's Milk

The evening was concluded with some very welcome sandwiches, courtesy of Simon

Our thanks go to all three landlords for their hospitality.

Chris negotiates for another beer, Neil doesn't look too sure!
